Event 8 - Marlborough College Music Scholars

12.15pm - Marden House - Admission £3 (Friends Free; £1 Child)

Another chance to hear some fine young music scholars from Marlborough College perform a selection of solo and chamber works. Always a highlight and never disappointing, we are delighted to welcome them back to the Festival - not to be missed.

Event 9 - This Woman’s Work

7.30pm - The John Bentley School - Admission £3 (Friends £2; 1 child)

Voices of the young women of Calne. A thought provoking evening of drama, dance and music brought to you by students from The John Bentley School. Inspired by discussions about how they are viewed in the world and how they view others, six students have created a piece of theatre that explores individuality, stereotypes and society’s longing to label. The six students explore the ‘Hoodie’ culture, Islamophobia, young mothers, rape victims and girls persecuted for how they look. The piece is hard-hitting and thought provoking with an aim to question why any of us prejudge anyone. Interspersed with powerful songs and dances, by other young female performers from the school, This Woman’s Work gives our young women a chance to express their feelings and us a chance to hear them. This performance is suitable for aged 14 and over.
