Calne Music and Arts Festival 2018

A welcome from the President

I am saddened to announce that this year we are losing two key members of the Committee. Peter Grant is returning to teach in his native Scotland and Gordon Burns, because of various pressures, is stepping down from the Art group. I would like to thank them personally for their contribution to the Festival and also thank the rest of the Committee who work tirelessly throughout the year to ‘put the show on the road’. For over forty years the Festival has gone from strength to strength with different people at the helm, and a changing crew but people always committed to providing you with a varied and exciting programme of music and art in all its forms. Long may it continue to thrive. We are, as usual, indebted to all of our sponsors, and to Chilvester Financial in particular who help to make the Festival viable and who are committed to promoting the Festival to a wider community. Essentially our ethos is to highlight local performers and local groups wherever possible, or indeed performers who have a link to the town. As someone remarked to me the other day in the London train ‘there’s a lot of music in Calne’.

The Codas, free concerts, beginning at 9.30pm after the main concert, continue to highlight local performers and are, for many, a relaxing end to the day.

We are always keen to welcome new ‘Friends’ so please spread the word among friends, neighbours and newcomers to the town. Details can be found near the end of the brochure and an application form on the website. We very much look forward to sharing with you this wealth of music and art and hope that you will enjoy the quality and diversity of the events planned.

As well as tickets being available from the Box Office at Bank House, opposite the Town Hall, they can also be obtained, without any booking fee, online at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/cmaf
