Gordon Burns Art Exhibition Co-ordinator

The Festival Art programme offers an open exhibition of artworks open to all in the Calne area who have paintings, drawings or any form of 2D and 3D creative work to show. All are welcome. There is a public vote with the overall winner prize of a £100 gift voucher from Avant-Garde in Calne. There is also a photographic exhibition organised and run by Calne Camera Club. In addition, local artists are invited to open their studios which provide the opportunity for the public to meet them and see them at work.

An open exhibition of artworks by local artists at Marden House in the centre of Calne.
Submission date for artworks at Marden House is: Saturday 29th September between 10.00am to 2.00pm only.

Public Vote Winners Prize
Avant-Garde (our local art supplies store) is providing £150 vouchers in prizes to the top three artworks voted for by the viewing public. First place award is £100, with second place £30 and third place £20.

Children's Art Competition

Closing date: Friday 29th September

This year’s theme is ‘Around the World’, and we are looking forward to seeing your entries! The age categories are 3-5yrs, 6-8yrs and 9-11yrs. Artwork can be in any medium, but must be no larger than A4. Entries should be handed in to Avant-Garde Art & Craft Supplies (27a Church Street, Calne SN11 0HY) by 5.00pm on Friday 28th September. Please note there can only be one entry per child, and all work must have the name, age and contact number clearly written on the back of the paper.. All entries will be on display in Calne Library for the duration of the Festival, so make sure you go and find yours!

Winners will be announced on Saturday 13th October via the Festival’s Facebook page: facebook.com/calnefestival

If you would like to collect your entry after the competition, it will be available at Avant-Garde Art & Craft Supplies from Tuesday 16th October.

Calne Camera Club PhotoFest Exhibition

Saturday 6th October to Sunday 14th October - Heritage Centre - Free Admission

Open Daily 10.00am to 4.00pm except Sunday 2.00 to 4.00pm.
Admission Free

Calne Camera Club presents its major annual Members Exhibition. Featuring  approximately 90 prints by local photographers, it may include some images that have gained international recognition.
Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite print. The club meets at The Lansdown Hall in Derry Hill. on Monday evenings. New members are always welcome.

“Epiphanies of Beauty”: Exhibition of Christian Art

Saturday 6th and 13th October - Saint Edmund’s Catholic Church - Free Admission

Open 1.00pm to 4.00pm

All are welcome to this exhibition of original artworks with a Christian theme by local artists, on display at Saint Edmund’s Catholic Church.  Also on display in the church are numerous works by the late Seán Crampton, past president of the Royal Society of British Sculptors, including his prize winning ‘Stations of the Cross’, and his 1995 ‘Annunciation’.

Images of “Stories of Lives Lived” from the Marlborough area and “Gunjur in The Gambia” and a series of ‘Humans of Marlborough and Gunjur’. The “Thriving Through Venture” programme involves some of the students learning photographic arts and going on to use them to capture images of those “Lives Lived” and members of these two different but partnered communities. A collaborative event for Calne Music and Arts Festival between St Mary’s School Calne, “Thriving Through Venture” and Calne Community Area Fairtrade Group.
