Sunday 6th October 2019

Event 6: Fascinatin’ Rhythm

3.00pm - Marden House - Admission £10 (Friends £7; £1 U18s)

We are delighted to welcome back Paul Turner for this year’s Sunday afternoon recital. A widely experienced recitalist, his work has taken him to Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Berlin, Valencia and Paris, as well as London’s leading venues and UK Festivals. Renowned for his sensitive playing, he excels in a wide range of genres. His Festival programme will celebrate the influence of jazz in classical music and include works by Joplin, Debussy, Gershwin, Copland and Ginastera.

Event 7: Festival Evensong

6.00pm - St Mary's Church

Choral Evensong is a gem of traditional Anglican worship. In essence, it is a service of psalms, canticles, readings and hymns dating back to the 15th century. The choir of St Mary’s Church, augmented by friends and supporters from across the town, will also be singing an anthem and musical settings of the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon). The preacher this year is the new Bishop of Ramsbury, Rt Rev’d Doctor Andrew Rumsey, who is both a musician and poet.
